Chaillot / Parade (2022) 22'
Genesis: a performance project turned into a film
Originally, seven shows of LOVETRAIN2020, a 2020 creation by Emanuel Gat, were planned at Chaillot - Théâtre national de la Danse from March 31 to April 8, 2021. Each of these was to be accompanied by a performance, before the show, entitled Défilé, imagined as a moving exhibition of costumes created by Thomas Bradley, dancer and costume designer, with the dancers of the Emanuel Gat Dance company.
With the support of Chaillot - Théâtre national de la Danse, and the active involvement of its costume workshop, two costume creation residencies were organized to create a unique set of 14 costumes for this performance.
The closure of the theaters has caused the cancellation of LOVETRAIN2020 and the performances of Défilé. In order to be able to share this work with the public despite everything, and to illustrate how creation and collaborations can adapt and continue despite everything, the Emanuel Gat Dance company and Chaillot - National Theater of Dance, have decided to transform the project into film: the opportunity to invest multiple spaces of the theater and to experience another interpretation and another staging of moving costumes.
Thus was born Chaillot / Parade, an unprecedented audiovisual creation, which combines performance, fashion and architecture, interpreted by the dancers of the company, directed by Emanuel Gat, with the collaboration of the technical teams of Chaillot.
Chaillot / Parade
In view of the rescheduling of LOVETRAIN2020 in Chaillot in October 2022, the theater and the Emanuel Gat Dance company are joining forces to finalize and broadcast Chaillot Parade: a way to enrich the experience of their audiences, by sharing this collaboration innovation and the resulting original work.
Chaillot / Parade is a series of fourteen singular portraits of costumed dancer-models by designer Thomas Bradley, individually highlighted in singular and little-known spaces of the prestigious Palais de Chaillot. Chaillot / Parade is a personal journey combining fashion, dance, architecture and heritage.
