"Plage Romantique“ & "Mondschein“ Premiere

The Season Opening

Emanuel Gat opens the season at tanzhaus nrw with a double feature. The Israel born choreographer, who initially studied music, is known for his pulsating dance works combined with music that always point at social relations between group and individual. "Plage Romantique", premiered at the Montpellier Danse Festival in June 2014, was created for the ten dancers of his company. By way of layering voice, music, text and dance a "choreographic musical", as he calls it, is established, looking for different perspectives at the manifold mechanisms of a performance. Bouyant and playful, with room for spontaniousness he continues his pursuit of the musicality of dance. On invitation of tanzhaus nrw Emanuel Gat has for the first time created a choreography with the ten dancers of the Essener Folkwang Tanzstudio (FTS). Here as well his work is focused on the exploration of the principles of counterpoint in music and dance. Choreographers such as Pina Bausch, Susanne Linke, Reinhild Hoffmann, Mark Sieczkarek and Henrietta Horn have shaped the image of the FTS, since 2008 being led by Rodolpho Leoni. The FTS shows works by young choreographers as well as works in collaboration with international guest choreographers.
